Editorial Standards & AI Disclosure

Why This Page Exists
Most publishers do not publish their editorial standards. We do, for three reasons: it is the honest thing to do; it is what we have already told our insurer and the United States Copyright Office; and readers of a behavioral self-assessment deserve to know exactly what they are and are not being handed.
1. What Our Publications Claim — and What They Do Not
The Dynamic Behavioral Analysis Matrix (DBAM) is a structured self-reflection framework. It draws on established thinking in emotional psychology, including dimensional models of affect and research on how behavioral patterns repeat across interpersonal situations.
DBAM is not a clinical instrument. It has not been independently validated through clinical trials. We state this on the copyright page of every publication, on every product listing, and here.
We maintain a standing editorial prohibition on:
- Clinical outcome claims of any kind
- Diagnostic claims
- Treatment recommendations
- Deterministic language about what any individual "is"
- Any suggestion our materials should inform employment, legal, medical, or psychiatric decisions
Descriptions of behavioral tendencies are general and non-deterministic. They describe patterns people commonly exhibit. They are not descriptions of any individual person, and they cannot be used to assess, label, or manage anyone else.
2. AI Disclosure
We use AI tools in our production process, and we tell you where.
| Where AI was used | How | What this means |
|---|---|---|
| Portions of publication text | AI-assisted drafting, followed by human revision and editorial judgment | The copyright application filed with the U.S. Copyright Office expressly excludes purely AI-generated portions and claims only original text, structure, scoring framework, and editorial content created and revised by the author |
| Cover design | AI-assisted design tools directed by the author to render original typography and layout | No stock imagery, photographs, or third-party artwork appears anywhere in our work |
| Brand and marketing assets | Where AI tools contribute to a visual asset, that asset is logged in our internal provenance record with the tool used, the date, and the human modifications made | Assets used as trademark specimens are human-authored derivatives, not raw AI output |
What AI does not do here: AI does not score your assessment, evaluate your responses, or generate any output about you. The workbook is a printable document. Your answers never leave your own copy.
Human accountability. Every publication is reviewed and approved by the Managing Member before release, against a documented pre-publication checklist covering defamation, privacy, intellectual property, disclaimer placement, and the prohibitions in Section 1.
3. Third-Party Content
The only third-party content in The Pattern You Cannot See is two brief quotations from sources long in the public domain: an unattributed ancient proverb, and a line from Plato's Apology attributed to Socrates.
No stock imagery, photographs, licensed material, or third-party artwork appears in our publications. We do not rely on fair use with respect to unoriginal content, because we do not use unoriginal content.
4. No Third-Party Authors
Patinaverse LLC is a single-author imprint. We publish exclusively the work of our own founder and have never acquired, contracted for, solicited, or published the work of any third-party author. No independent contractors are used to create content.
We do not accept unsolicited manuscripts, proposals, or idea submissions of any kind. Any such material received is returned or deleted unread and unreviewed. See Section 8 of our Terms of Service.
5. No Named Individuals
No living or deceased identifiable person is named, described, or portrayed in our publications — including anonymized examples that could reasonably identify a real individual. Illustrative examples are invented.
6. Corrections
Our formal retraction and clarification procedure is published in our Copyright & DMCA Policy. Substantiated factual errors are corrected in the next digital revision and next print run, with material corrections also published on this website.
7. Testimonials and Reviews
Any testimonial we publish is from a real reader who genuinely used the material. We do not fabricate, incentivize for positive sentiment, or edit testimonials in a way that changes their meaning, consistent with FTC guidance on endorsements. Where a reviewer received a free copy, we say so alongside the testimonial.
